I'm in LA. It's absolutely crazy. I can't protest due to disability. The neighborhood watch is a good idea! Looking into it.

I think the Neighbourhood Watch programs are invaluable, and a great way for disabled people to participate as well!

I know that in Massachusetts there’s a group that hosts a website and a hotline for people to call if they spot ICE. I cannot think of their acronym right now but I will come back and edit this when it comes to me.

If anyone knows of such groups anywhere in the US, please post!

LUCE is the one in Massachusetts.

https://www.lucemass.org/

617-370-5023 (text or call)

The phone number has operators who speak multiple languages and I believe they take calls from 5 AM to 9 PM.

There’s a link on that page to get information on how to be a volunteer watcher.

I have also heard that people who use the Waze app for traffic are using the report snow and ice feature to report ICE spottings which is clever.

That Waze use is really smart.

I saw it on Massachusetts Reddit. People in Boston don’t want the feds snatching their neighbors. There was a funny TikTok going around where people were pretending to talk trash about their neighbors until ICE rolled in and then they fought for “that jerk next door who keeps moving their trash can to steal their paaaking space.” It’s not a stereotype, it’s pretty much typical Boston. They’ll be like LA if he wants to FAFO. I know all the old Charlestown guys who used to take armored trucks are in jail or deceased, but their kids and adult grandkids are still around.

They’re in OC California today.

If anyone sees them please Immediately call the OC rapid response network number for ICE raids: (714) 881-1558.

Idk if this site is California specific but you can report it on line here too

Agreed. I still can't get over the fact that Alma already spent nearly three years in a detention facility, only to be thrown back in when she had done nothing wrong.

I am posting a statement tomorrow on behalf my organization in our newsletter on what is going in Los Angeles. Putting out a call to action to call their members of Congress and the state AGs. State and local law enforcement don't have cooperate with ICE.

I don’t have a link, but my memory of the situation with the uterus collector at that detention center during his last term was that they had a hearing (I thought it was Congress but I see it was the senate) and they determined that gynecologist did nothing wrong. I was hoping your link would have more details regarding that but I’ll go try to Google because now I’m curious about why I remember that incorrectly.

These poor people, the scenes on the streets in Massachusetts after people have been ripped from their homes are horrible. Their landlords go in and they just throw everything on the sidewalk.

Someone on Massachusetts Reddit was talking about how they salvaged what they could for their neighbor in case they come back, but for the most part it seems like people are just taking their stuff. It’s horrible. If they come back their job is gone, their home & car is gone, sometimes their CHILDREN are being left behind on the sidewalk.

I think some of the confusion is because he sued for defamation and won? But I thought the Senate found a violation and that’s why the facility was shut down, but not enough evidence to prosecute the doctor.

Details are super murky. I had to do a lot of digging just to find this stuff.

If you find anything else please comment and/or DM me? Happy to update the article too!

I’m getting hit hard by unrelenting wildfire smoke and ran out of spoons.

That makes sense I hadn’t heard of the defamation part that’s awful that he won. If I find anything I’ll send you a message.

Thank you for the information. I’m so sorry about the wildfire. I’m in New England and I received a bad air alert on my phone last night, it’s not even that bad here but it helped me understand why there was a strange smell in the air.

Yeah and way too many people on the right just say since he won that suit he “didn’t do it”. Despite the bar for defamation being different than the bar for being charged with medical malpractice/harm

Trump “won” against ABC. Doesn’t mean he didn’t commit sexual assault.

Exactly, with civil suits you prove it with the “preponderance of evidence” rather than “beyond reasonable doubt”.

'American democracy is in its death throes. Trump is not acting on his own but as the representative of a financial oligarchy that is hurtling toward fascism and war. There will be no return to “normal.” The political situation can move in only one of two directions: dictatorship or revolution.’ https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/06/09/wuor-j09.html

I really wish more people could understand this. The time to resist is now. Once fascism has completely taken hold it will be incredibly hard to undo. Rise up. Speak out.

The worst part is that under section 504 of the rehabilitation act, federal spaces/properties are obligated to provide access and accommodations. And this is in addition to/on top of the ADA.

Thank you for sharing this. It really is awful how this flies under the radar.

Expand full comment
Broadwaybabyto's avatar

I suspect that’s why they shut down the federal departments responsible for overseeing things. So that it would be easier to get away with not complying with the ADA.

It’s awful and I really hope my article can play a small part in getting the word out to more people!

Thank you for highlighting their stories and struggles with ICE. The people tRump has deputized to be able to illegally detain, arrest, and deport our fellow citizens believe that the disabled are useless bc we can’t contribute to the economy, our lives mean nothing! They believe we are a drain on the economy. Their ability to see the humanity in every being is non existent! At some point, everyone will become disabled due to chronic illness or old age or disease, etc., and need people to see their humanity. I’ll just leave it at that.

Broadwaybabyto's avatar

Exactly. It’s one of the only minority groups you can join at any time, and yet most people act like we’ve done something wrong and it’ll never happen to them.

Yep I am one who found it beyond disturbing when as a candidate Djt was belittling & mocking a disabled journalist for all to see. What they didn't see is how some of his thugs behind the scenes were actually physically pushing him around & harassing him also. Even worse all those that were cheering him on as he did so. Really unforgivable imo they really have no low even the devil says nope lower.

Broadwaybabyto's avatar

Absolutely. In any other universe his campaign should have been over the moment he did that. The fact that he won despite that moment shows just how little respect people with disabilities are shown. How easy it is for people to disregard us.

Oh my goodness I’m sorry! I don’t think I ever gave the full term in the article. It’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Basically the group that has been rounding up people they claim are in the US illegally and either putting them on planes to other countries or into terrible detention facilities.
