I think part of the reason people fear disability is because they can see how we're treated by society, how we struggle to stay alive. The irony being that if every disabled person, and every predisabled person was adequately supported, a lot of the hardship that comes with disability would disappear, and there would be a lot less to fear. Obviously being disabled can still be painful and affect your quality of life, but with support, that part of disability (the actual disability) is a lot easier to manage.
